What a transfer code is
A transfer code is a security code used by many domain providers to confirm that you are allowed to move a domain. Kiyo uses the plain term Transfer code.
Other names you may see
Your current provider may call it an EPP code, authorisation code, auth code or AuthInfo code. These names usually describe the same type of transfer credential.
Where to find it
- Sign in to the current domain provider.
- Open the domain you want to move.
- Look for Transfer, Move domain or Transfer out.
- Complete any security verification.
- Request or reveal the transfer code.
Keep the code private
Treat the code like a password for the transfer. Enter it only in the Kiyo transfer flow or provide it directly to verified Kiyo Support when they are helping with the case.
When a code is not needed
Not every domain extension uses a transfer code. Kiyo's eligibility check tells you whether one is required for the domain you entered.
If you cannot find the code
- Check that the domain is unlocked for transfer
- Look for a provider security email
- Search the provider's transfer-out help
- Ask the current provider for the domain's transfer code
- Open Kiyo live chat if the provider instructions are unclear
