A transfer does not normally change the website connection
Moving domain management to Kiyo does not normally require changing where the domain points. If the nameservers and DNS settings stay the same, the website and any separate email service can usually continue working during the transfer.
What Kiyo tries to preserve
- The current nameservers
- Existing website records
- Records used by a separate email provider
- Other connected services that already use the domain
What can cause disruption
- Nameservers changed accidentally
- DNS records removed or replaced
- A current provider applies special transfer behaviour
- A separate website move is performed at the same time without coordination
- The domain was already expired or misconfigured before transfer
Keep transfer and connection changes separate
If possible, complete and verify one change before starting the next. You can transfer domain management without moving hosting, or move a website while keeping the domain with its current provider.
No absolute zero-downtime promise
If the website stops working
- Check the transfer status in Kiyo.
- Compare the current nameservers with the connection used before transfer.
- Avoid making several DNS changes at once.
- Open live chat and provide the domain name and affected service.
